Samuel Langhorne Clemens, or Mark Twain, one of the most recognized American authors, is best known for his iconic books, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer its sequel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The latter has been referred to as the Great American Novel. His enlightening and humorous quotes are among the most popular quotes on the Internet. Born in Hannibal, Missouri, shortly after the appearance of Halley’s Comet in 1835, he was said to have predicted he would “go out with it too”, and died the day following it’s reappearance in 1910. Twain was highly paid for his writing during his lifetime investing in business interests but failed miserably declaring bankruptcy at one point.
