American funnyman, Woody Allen, born Allan Stewart Konigsberg, began performing as a stand-up comic in the 1960’s, emphasizing monologues rather than traditional jokes. His career, spanning some six decades, earned him the Comedy Central ranking of fourth on a list of the 100 greatest stand-up comics.
